At the 19th annual Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA), God of War was announced as the Game of the Year which was held at Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. God of War which is a mythology based action video game franchise of Sony Interactive Entertainment. The all new Game of War launched in the year 2005 has gone through several updates and new launches. The recent launch on PlayStation 4 became instant success. The new game has come up with a new story where immortal god Kratos, teaches his young son how to survive in difficult situations with cruel people all around. The game has great story line backed with stunning visuals and great combat moves.
Developer Mountains received two awards for Florence with one for the best mobile game of the year and the other for the best debut of the year. This game also has a great story line with it being a love story and on the top of it, is a mature game with mature characters and interactive story. The best AR/VR game award went to Beat Saber Game developer Beat Games. It in fact also received two awards with other being Audience award for best game.
Some other awardees includes Red Dead Redemption 2 of Rockstar Games,which received awards for the Best Technology category. While best narrative award was given to Return of the Obra Dinn by Lucas Pope. The innovation award was given to Nintendo’s Labo while the Lifetime Achievement award was given to Amy Hennig, the famous writer and director who has been a great visionary writer for many decades in the gaming industry.

Katie Stern, the General Manager of the Game Developers Conference said, ‘‘The Game Developers Choice Awards represent the most refined games of the year, and the sheer variety of games honored tonight showed that games can still represent wholly new and unique creative visions”. According to him, a number of independently developed games like Celeste, Gris and Florence proved how personal life related turmoil could make highly appealing games for millions of fans. While games like God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 capture our imagination with special moments and great story line along with great graphics. He also said that the organization embrace and accept all these amazingly creative works, and is proud to recognize all these nominees and winners for all their hard work that has made their work successful and famous.
